From a different perspective - Six on Saturday

We're currently away on holiday in much warmer climes, but I regularly check out the old homestead via our IP video cameras.   These automatically capture still images every 30 seconds and also record video when motion is detected in certain areas.

One of these cameras is a pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) unit mounted on a tall pole above the apex of the first-floor extension gable, which can be controlled remotely over the internet and affords a panoramic view of the garden, so I took a few stills this morning and thought I'd join in again with the Six-on-Saturday crowd hosted by The Propagator.

The default 'security' view, over the front door, driveway and gate ...
pan left & down, zoom in a little ...
pan left & down, zoom in further ...
pan left and up, zoom out ...
pan left and up, zoom in ...
and pan left again, zoom out ...

So a different perspective of most of our garden in a 225 degree camera sweep anti-clockwise from due north around to south-east, and captured from thousands of miles away ....

Isn't technology wonderful !

  1. That's fantastic, that you're so far away & can spy on your garden. Looks like it doesn't miss you a bit, the ungrateful thing. Love the view of the shed. Enjoy your travels!

  2. It's OK to leave lhe garden at this time of year when nothing's growing, but if we travel in the summer for several weeks then it's become a jungle by the time we return !

    1. From memory, it was about ninety quid a few years ago. You can get wireless versions which tap into the house wi-fi, but the quality can be a bit iffy and so I've got mine hard-wired via a long ethernet cable and RJ45 connectors from the camera directly into the router.

  4. That's clever! You have a nice looking selection of small conifers there.
